Overview:
The Business Intelligence Manager utilizes both strategic and tactical thinking to manage software applications, their use, and the output of that use in order to produce reliable, actionable Business Intelligence. They add value by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of decision making by Nature’s Way leaders and managers, by acting in a leadership capacity to align the company’s adoption of business intelligence to its best use, and by implementing systems, protocols and procedures related to information management in order to continuously improve the company’s capabilities. The Business Intelligence Manager strives to be promoted to a Director or Vice President role.
Job Duties:
- Utilizing both strategic and tactical thinking, guides Business Intelligence decisions, practices and interactions for the Sales and Marketing Team and for the company at large. Advises Nature’s Way executives in order to facilitate sound decision making as pertains to Information Technology, Business Information, and Business Intelligence.
- Drives continuous improvement in Nature’s Way’s Business Intelligence capabilities, efficiencies and outputs by improving existing software functionality and/or recommending new software when existing products cannot produce acceptable results. Seeks to resolve the root causes of information and software inefficiencies and inabilities, resorting to patches and “band aids” only as stop-gap measures to be utilized while more complete solutions are devised and implemented.
- Creates models, visualizations and reporting that identify and translate market and operational opportunities into actionable recommendations for managers across the company which will achieve Nature’s Way revenue, margin and profit targets; or directs and oversees the creation of such models and reporting.
- Creates and implements protocols, procedures, routines and standards which maximize the efficiency, productivity, and usefulness of the software, reporting, and users of Business Intelligence resources. Ensures that Sales Analysts have the tools, training and understanding of the business required to produce effective dashboards, reports and metrics.
- Serves as a mentor and source of knowledge to all Nature’s Way personnel who interact with Business Intelligence resources. Leads the development of training programs in this capacity.
- Provides exceptional leadership. May build and lead a team of analysts and IT professionals in order to maximize the effectiveness of the Business Intelligence function. Serves as the Servant Leader of that team, focusing on the development of each member and on continuous improvement of each member’s capabilities and outputs. Responsible for timely approval of expense reports, time-off requests, PTO requests, and TimeTrex entry approval. May lead cross-functional teams focused on the resolution of specific issues centered on Business Intelligence or may participate in cross-functional teams as a team member or advisor.
Qualification Requirements:

Overview:
The Great Plains Specialist supports the Sales Team by maintaining the integrity of all data associated with the Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains 2010 Sales Order Process, and by importing orders as provided by the Sales Team and processing them through to handoff to the Shipping Team. They add value by ensuring that the Sales Order Process is executed correctly and on time day in and day out, by leveraging their experience with Great Plains to bring solutions to Sales and to Nature’s Way at large, and by creatively and proactively seeking to solve for issues and inefficiencies with Nature’s Way’s use of Great Plains. The Great Plains Specialist seeks to be promoted to Sales Analyst, Business Intelligence Manager, or Account Manager roles.
Job Duties:
- Imports orders as generated by the sales team into Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains in “Quote” status via the “Sales Order Processing” routine, transfers those to “Order Status,” assigns PO numbers, makes required adjustments, creates Order Batches and informs shipping when orders are ready for their review. Does so completely and on time every day.
- Maintains the data integrity of Item Maintenance Cards, Price Sheets/Books, Customer Item Maintenance Cards and other “Index Cards” necessary for accurate operation of Great Plains. “Index cards” include product information, store information, pricing information, etc., requiring collaboration between the Great Plains Specialist and other company personnel.
- Strives to disaggregate issues, identify root causes, and recommend solutions when Great Plains or the company’s use of it are inefficient. Relies on personal experience and knowledge to propose solutions.
- Interacts cooperatively with other departments to ensure that the supply chain moves smoothly and in a timely manner from the Great Plains perspective. Accepts responsibility for the process as a whole suggesting solution where bottlenecks occur and becomes proactively involved when their expertise is needed to resolve an urgent issue.
- Participates in other data management functions across a variety of platforms as directed by the Business Intelligence Manager.
- Creates and distributes reporting and data derived from the Great Plains system as needed.
Qualification Requirements:
- Intimate knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains 2010
- Competence with arithmetic and simple mathematics
- Professional manner of verbal and written communication
- Professional appearance and decorum, appropriate to an office environment.
- Basic business acumen with an understanding of retail financial metrics
- High School graduate—college degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of demonstrable experience with Great Plains 2010
