This flowering shrub gets its common name from the unique caterpillar-like flowers it produces all season long. This curious flower invites all to touch it and enjoy its fuzzy soft texture. Flowers can drape up to 12-18 inches long, depending on the variety. This tropical plant loves full sun and lots of moisture.
Chenille can get as tall as 15 feet tall in the landscape and about 6 feet wide if planted in tropical climates. It can also be planted in containers and baskets, but it will only get to about 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide. This plant loves bright light and moisture, so do not let it dry out. Water daily when planted in the landscape until it becomes established. Water thoroughly, but do not soak after established, water as needed. Trim the plant back if it gets unruly or leggy. Since Chenille is a constant bloomer, it is a heavy feeder. It should be fertilized monthly with a well-balanced fertilizer.
Note: These plants are grown for decorative purposes and are not intended for human or animal consumption
